Seeing Without Watching
What cameras can do when no one ever gets to see the images — not even us.
Of all the senses we can give a home AI, sight is the most powerful — and the most delicate. A camera understands situations no other sensor can capture: Is someone at the door? Is the stove still on? Has someone fallen? That’s exactly why many people are rightly hesitant to let cameras into their own home.
The real problem isn’t the camera
The problem with “smart” cameras is rarely the seeing itself — it’s where the images go. With many systems, footage ends up in the manufacturer’s cloud, stored and analyzed there, and, in a worst case, viewable by employees or exposed in a data breach. You gain a little comfort and give away the most intimate view into your life.
Verity separates these two things rigorously: the seeing stays, the giving away is gone.
How Verity sees
Every image is read, not collected. Only the insight is used — never the image itself. And what the house remembers stays local, with you:
- Presence & rooms: Is a room in use? Then light and climate adapt — without any image being stored anywhere.
- At the door: A known face or a stranger? You learn who’s there, without anyone ever getting to see that face.
- Security: An unusual movement in the middle of the night is recognized and reported — as a notice, not as an image on someone else’s servers.
- Care: A fall can be detected so help arrives — a topic we devote a separate story to.
The image itself is only a fleeting moment. What arrives is an insight in words — “someone is moving in the hallway” — not the video.
Seeing as a matter of trust
We design vision to be deliberately restrained: you decide which rooms are captured at all, and the system is built to interpret rather than to archive. No secret recording, no image library that someone could one day search through.
So your home gains watchful eyes — and keeps the discretion of a room no one can see into from outside.
Confidential by architecture. Provable, not claimed.
